I Wanna...

I wanna....
STAND OUT.
'Cus anonymity bores me.

Black/white contrast used for embossing effect. Pops of colour (i.e candy pink bikini and leather gloves, bright baby blue
waistband of chiffon over-skirt) used for further bold effect. Patent nude thigh-high platform boots, with 'DON'T LOOK'
printed on the sole, I always find that when someone tells you NOT to do something, you wanna do it more, right?

Dance, dance, DANCE.

keep it all spinning.
Ballet shoes and vinyl records inspired my design.
I wanted to keep it relatively simple, in fitting with the
concept.
 ...How?
"Dance. You gotta dance. As long as the music plays. You gotta dance. Don't even think why. Start to think, your feet stop. Your feet stop, [you] get stuck..."
"So don't pay any mind. No matter how dumb, you gotta keep the step. We know you're tired and scared...Just don't let your feet stop".
            -H.Murakami (Dance, dance, dance).

Just go with it. If you over-think, the 'record' stops playing.
Vinyl record-inspired shorts with extra-long white ribboned ballet platform shoes.

As Long as it's Pretty.

Who Cares How it Works?
So few of us understand how the things we surround ourselves with work (myself included). We're happy to stand around admiring ourselves for how much we've 'achieved'. As long as everything looks good and is running fine, who cares about everything behind the pretty exterior?

There's so much that we don't understand about the world
we live in, as long as it works, we just deal with the exterior.
But what if there was no-one to fix it when something goes wrong? You'd probably just get rid of it, right?
Get a nice, new one.
But how about this:

Next time something goes wrong, try fixing it yourself. Why don't we stop being so dependent on everybody else and learn something about the world we live in?

Gauze flamingo-pink 'kimono' reflective of vanity. PVC bodysuit, shoe-boots inspired by jack plugs (we're
so 'connected' to all our technology, without any depth of understanding. Sheer under-top inspired by motherboard.

The Blame Game

Strength.

Strength doesn't come from other people reassuring you.

Your entire world revolves around you, your experience, how you perceive things.

The 'bad' comes from you...but then so does the judgement, the punishment, the resolution, the change.

Blame yourself, and you'll make progress.

Python-print tattoo stockings, gauze dress with black underpiece, police badge
hairpin. Snake image used as a typical embodiment of 'evil' and 'deceit', coming
to terms with the 'bad' being an inherant part of us, not anything/ anyone else.

I Wannabe Freeeeee.

      FREE....?(Yes, that's a BIG question).
I wore odd trousers to town recently.
At least, everybody else seemed to think so. They're my favourite pair, personally. I had a really good time seeing people's reactions as they walked by on the street...At least I gave them something to react to.

My trousers got me thinking...
Surely if people just did/wore what they really wanted,
the world would be a much more challenging (and fun) place.
The definition of freedom:

"The power to act, speak, or think as one
wants without hindrance or restraint"

Well, anyone can do that. If you care about it enough, just accept the consequences. Restraint is self-inflicted; so then isn't freedom, too....?

Initial sketches based on images of freedom and restraint, 'straight
jacket' was the key piece, classic image demonstrating how we self-inflict strict rules.
Final design, the idea was centered around openness.

Wear your destruction on your sleeve.

Sketches Diamond Drill Bit, Oil-covered
Bird.
It's not that I wannabe a wannabe,
there's just so much that I want to be!

So I was thinking; why are people so eager to show the world only what they create, and never what they destroy in order to get what they want?

If we're proud or happy with what we're doing - and I mean this in any walk of life, any situation - shouldn't we be upfront about it, and not feel the need to be 'convenient with the truth'?

If what you're doing makes you feel like you have something to hide, maybe the truth of the matter is -you shouldn't be doing it.

Anyway. Here's today's design, it took a bit of an Eco-spin to prove my point.

Shoes inspired by diamond drill bits used in oil digging, image of an oil-soaked bird, and netting to incorporate the idea that we're so stuck in our destructive ways.

It's not that I wannabe a wannabe -
there's just so much that I want to be!

A fashion blog that's a little different.
Fashion should tell the world who you are and what you think. Fashion shouldn't be something you hide behind; instead it is something unafraid and expressive. Fashion isn't about being a sheep and following a trend - it is creativity and originality. If you're content to let a magazine or a highstreet shop window dress you every day, you stop thinking for yourself and become like everyone else. We're lucky we have the chance to be whoever we want to be - take advantage of that and express yourself without reservation.

I want to show you who I am, and who I COULD be:
I have wanted to be a superhero, a supermodel (less likely to happen than the superhero thing), singer, actress, surgeon, dancer, an astro-physicist, fashion designer, a blogger, politician, artist, translator, idol, happy, writer, architect, rich, an explorer, time-traveller...

You get the picture, I've had (and still have) a lot of aspirations, and rather a lot to do. So follow me, react to me, tell others about me, laugh at me, relate to me. I'll post about what goes on in a Wannabe's head, along with a related fashion design. Don't forget about Wannabe Wednesday (just for fun) where I'll post a fashion design related to anything I've ever wanted to be  (or anything you've ever wanted to be, send me a suggestion if you like). I'm going to try and keep it regular and simple, so please give the page a glance every now and then, who knows, you might find something to relate to.

I'm starting this blog in the hope that the day I submit my last post will be the day I've lost the 'wanna' and the day I can just 'be'.
